Description:
Wan Yung has had it pretty tough already in his dozen years of life. Growing up an orphan isn’t easy for anyone. Growing up an orphan in Binmin, the poorest city in the Jin Kingdom, makes things even harder. Growing up an odd-ball, white tiger orphan in Binmin is just about the worst it can get. Bullied since his earliest memory, Yung is just trying to keep his head down and whiskers intact until one day, fleeing from a trio of bullies, they all encounter a mysterious glowing creature that calls itself a saja-yang. This strange being not only appears as a confusing mixture of both a lion and a lamb, but it’s floating and seems to be made of fire that flows like water! The saja-yang, with no explanation, grants each member of the quartet unusual powers and leaves them with a charge to Get Up, Go Out, and Glorify before vanishing without a trace. Now bound by this bizarre occurrence, the four must learn to work as one and understand exactly what their new task means–not to mention how to do it!

Cost(s):
2D animated series - $12K/minute

Status:
Pitch complete

Style:
Bold, simple-shaped, hard-lined, but dynamic characters (reminiscent of cartoons like Power Puff Girls, Dexter’s Lab, and Teen Titans Go!) set against dreamy, flowing, near-abstract backgrounds inspired by Asian watercolor paintings. The backgrounds often will have a DOF (depth of field) effect to them, enhancing the ephemeral, almost fuzzy appearance, while the characters, in their blocky, angular designs will pop and feel fresh and energetic.

Setting:
Thousands of years ago, the Jin Kingdom venerated the Most High Master. Almost all who had heard of Him and who revered His scrolls of wisdom gratefully followed His ways. For nearly six hundred years now, that has not been the case and now nearly everyone does what is right in his own eyes and as a result, darkness, tragedy, and despair hold sway over much of the land. Lord Eodum reigns from on high, but he allows bandits and rogues to have their way with his subjects and of late, many have begun to whisper about the strange Sinjas, beings made of smoke and lies, who lead many astray. Only the ancients speak of the Ancient Scrolls left, scattered amid ruins and ancient holy sites, as the people’s last great hope.
