God’s’Dog: Monster
God’s’Dog is an epic graphic novel by brothers Jonathan and Matthieu Pageau, along with Cord Nielson. A retelling of Saint Christopher — featuring Saint George, who slew the dragon — the “dog-headed saint”. A more literal interpretation of Christopher’s frequent symbolic depiction of a cynocephalus, the story reimagines him as an actual, dog-headed warrior, lost until he finds George, a knight-monk leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. While others run in fear of Reprobus — Christopher’s original name in this graphic novel — George works to befriend him and bring him along the journey.

Invisible Tales (Series)
Davy Liu’s Invisible Tails or IT Series is a collection of stories from the perspective of an animal or set of animals that may have witnessed a significant event in Biblical history (i.e. animals heading to the Ark before the flood, fish in the Red Sea when Moses divided it, the colt that Jesus rode on during Palm Sunday). This mixed bag of art, story, symbolism, and historical fact is in many ways charming and delightful, even as it has a few confusing elements.

Balsamus
Balsamus is a Middle Eastern fantasy-historical comic series, masterfully written and drawn by Karolyne Rocha. This epic-style series focuses on a pair of brothers — both soldiers and scoundrels — cursed with an ancient familial burden, as they lead their band of brigands across the desert in a story of redemption.
